University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague

The uniqueness of University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague, in Czech: Vysoká škola chemicko-technologická v Praze (VSCHT) is the strong focus on PhD candidates: the number of PhD candidates in PhD doctoral programmes represents ca. 20% of all enrolled students. Creating conditions for a more attractive career in research is one of the VSCHT management. VSCHT has a newly established PhD support office and an outstanding Counselling and Career Centre. VSCHT brings into CROSS experience with coordination of a European capacity building project and the dynamics of a developing institution that builds on collaboration within established networks and active partnerships. 

Université libre de Bruxelles

The Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) is committed to advancing personalised career development for researchers. Leveraging European-funded COFUND programmes, inter-university collaborative efforts and its active participation in the CIVIS European university initiative, ULB has significantly invested in crafting personalised learning experiences and standardized training frameworks. Additionally, ULB has pioneered the use of online learning platforms through its collaboration with the OSCAR Erasmus+ project. Building on these developments, ULB looks forward to commencing the broader rollout of the already tested and validated prototypes. 

J. Heyrovský Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Czech Academy of Sciences

The J. Heyrovský Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Czech Academy of Sciences (HIPC) is a centre of fundamental research in physical chemistry and chemical physics. Besides its main focus on research, HIPC is also involved in education. HIPC received the HR Excellence in Research award in January 2019 and will use its expertise in implementing the HRS4R process in CROSS. HIPC has vast experience in Science Policy, Research infrastructures, EOSC, and open science at national (Council for large RIs at the Ministry, Council for Open science CAS, etc) and European levels (ESFRI, ERAC, ERA Forum, EOSC SB, EOSC AISBL, etc.). 

Charles University

Charles University (CU) is an active member of numerous esteemed international organizations and university networks. As a founding member of the PRIDE network association, CU brings valuable expertise that can significantly contribute to WP2. The university can leverage its European project CHARLESTON, which focuses on career development, research competencies, and mentoring, to make meaningful contributions to WP2 and WP4. Additionally, CU supports engagement with training on the use of the SA Tool and aims to facilitate organisational changes within the university as part of WP5. In February 2019, CU received the „HR Excellence in Research“ award. 

The Cyprus Institute

The Cyprus Institute (CyI) is a non-profit research and educational institution. In 2020, CyI has applied for the HRS4R award which was granted and renewed in 2022. Through HRS4R, CyI aims in having a structured and strategic approach to the ongoing improvement of its research staff employment and working conditions, career progression and development, communication with supervisors and management and compliance with good practice research standards. Through the HRS4R action plan, the Institute aspires to further improve its practices with a number of actions aiming at increased efficiency and effectiveness with the inclusion and active participation of the CyI community as a whole, from student and junior research staff level to senior management.

EIT FOOD

The participating full partner RPOs are complemented by EIT FOOD, who brings in its extensive network comprising Higher Education Institutions (RPOs), Research and Technology Organisations (RTOs), large corporations, industry players, and start-ups, as well as experiences in specialized training provision in Innovation and Entrepreneurship (I&E). Moreover, close ties of EIT FOOD to the European Commission further enhances the chances for impactful change within the European Research Area.

BANTANI

BANTANI complements the expertise of EIT FOOD in championing and implementing the EntreComp framework at EU level, including contributions to the creation of EntreComp tools and guidelines, establishment of the EntreComp community, and organizing events such as EntreComp cafés and conferences.

TAMLINK

TAMLINK, another strategic partner in the consortium, is a technology transfer company in Finland. It acts as a bridge between academia and industry with a mission to commercialize research and harness science for the benefit of society. A part of TAMLINK is Doctoral School of Industry Innovations (DSII), that builds bridges between academia and industry and provides companies with access to the latest research knowledge. For universities DSII offers a way to create and further develop contacts and collaboration with companies. TAMLINK provides CROSS with expertise on effective intersectoral collaboration and will share its expertise especially in building strategic partnerships with labour market actors.

FECYT

FECYT is the national coordinator (ENO) of EURAXESS-Spain. Within transnational activities, FECYT is the coordinator of the Hub Researchers Careers Beyond Academia, a cluster of EURAXESS members focused on the diversification of researchers‘ careers. Within this Hub, and under the umbrella of several EU projects -EURAXESS Hub, ERA Talent, and TOPIV-, FECYT has implemented actions to facilitate intersectoral mobility of researchers. Among some of these activities there are the cross-border REBECA mentoring programme, connecting researchers with professionals outside of the academic research career, and REBECA Practice, a tool to provide first-hand experiential information to researchers about different professional opportunities. FECYT is an expert on mentoring services and implementation of career management services to facilitate career transition. As coordinator of EURAXESS, FECYT also provides information and support to the implementation of the Charter for Researchers through the HRS4R.

Tallinn University of Technology (TALTECH)

Tallinn University of Technology (TALTECH) as a prominent higher education institution in Estonia, plays a pivotal role in the advancement of doctoral programmes within the country. With a focus on aligning doctoral education with the demands of the labour market, TALTECH emphasizes the importance of nurturing transversal skills among researchers. TALTECH's involvement in projects like CROSS underscores its commitment to providing comprehensive career development opportunities for doctoral candidates, empowering them to navigate the complexities of today's professional landscape. 

Technische Universität Dresden (TUD)

Technische Universität Dresden (TUD) is one of Germany's leading Universities of Technology. Since 2012, TUD has been one of Germany's eleven Universities of Excellence. The support and promotion of ECRs is a top priority at TUD. A multitude of tailor-made support formats for the different stages of a career in science and research are available for ECRs at TUD. 

Tampere University (TAU)

Tampere University (TAU) is one of Finland's most multidisciplinary institutions, with strengths in technology, health, and society. TAU strives to expand its intersectoral collaboration and to increase the employability of its ECRs. Its role in CROSS is to pilot the career support toolbox and services in order to support the careers of its ECRs and to further disseminate the results of the projects across its networks, especially the IWM network that is coordinated by TAU.
